Octowhisper is built to keep your voice and your words on your own machine. This page spells out what that means in plain terms.

The app

Speech recognition runs locally on your Mac. Your audio is transcribed on-device and the audio itself is never uploaded. There is no account to create and nothing to sign in to, and transcription works with the network turned off.

Your transcription history is stored only on your Mac, and you can clear it whenever you want.

Diagnostic reports. To find and fix bugs, the app sends crash and transcription-error reports to our error-monitoring provider (Sentry). So we can diagnose bad transcriptions, a report can include the text of the transcription involved, which may contain what you dictated. No audio is ever sent. This is on by default and you can turn it off any time in Settings — doing so stops all reports for the rest of that session and every session after.

The app also downloads its speech models directly to your Mac. Aside from model downloads and the diagnostic reports above, nothing you dictate leaves your machine.
